Skype’s new version 3.0 of it’s Android app has put tablet users square in it’s sights. The new Skype update is optimized to bring a more functional version of Skype to tablet users. Along with the normal features of Skype such as video calling, sending and receiving instant messages, sharing pictures, and making calls to mobiles and landlines worldwide, 3.0 users will get a break from those sometimes teeny, distant sounding voice calls. Skype’s new codec, dubbed SILK sounds promising;
“Skype 3.0 copes well with the often varying speeds of Internet connections, ensuring that the audio quality is always the best it can be.”
Visually, Skype 3.0 takes advantage of tablet screen real estate,
locking the screen in a horizontal position, and allowing for switching
between front facing and rear cameras.
