secretly evaluated at the exhibitors' stands by a team of judges during
the first two days of Mobile World Congress. The winning company and
their submission will be announced Wednesday, 27th February

The burning question on everybody's lips is....Will Samsung launch the Galaxy S4 at Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2013 or not?! Here is an interesting article that we found which says not. Read on..
Samsung has no big plans to announce its devices at Mobile World Congress 2013 that is going to begin from 25th
February, 2013 including the Galaxy S4. This was informed by the person
who is aware of the launch plans of Samsung, according to CNET. There
were expectations that the much awaited Samsung Galaxy will be announced
at Mobile world Congress 2013.
Samsung seems to have a plan to hold an event to launch Galaxy S4 as did it for the release of Galaxy S3 in 2012. There are some rumors going around that 22nd March, 2013 may be the date on which an even will be held for releasing Galaxy S4. The handset may be displayed in the press conference that is scheduled on 22nd March, 2013.
There are other companies which are not announcing their new products at Mobile Congress
World 2013 such as BlackBerry which is launching its Smartphone in
their own special event later this week and HTC will be releasing its
device a week before MCW begins. Mobile Congress World will still be the platform for many major announcements from companies such as Nokia, Huawei and so on.

Here is an article that we found regarding one of the fastest growing regions in Africa for mobile penetration and even when the most of world is suffering with economic crisis. Read on..
Sub-Saharan Africa is one of the
fastest-growing regions globally for mobile penetration, usage and
revenues. While the world has been rocked by economic crises, the
region's mobile ecosystem has seen continued subscription growth and now
accounts for over 730 million connections, according to global
management consulting firm A.T. Kearney.
This
makes it one of the world's largest pools of mobile subscribers. Buoyed
by the innovation of home-grown entrepreneurs, it has played a
significant role in applying mobile to verticals such as education,
healthcare and finance.
Challenges for mobile in the sub-Saharan region
There
are, however, significant challenges for sub-Saharan Africa as a
region, such as maintaining operator profitability and revenues as
mobile penetration spreads to less affluent customers; and ensuring
regulation keeps pace with the potential of the region. The solutions
that arise have the potential to be a blueprint for the mobile industry
across the rest of the planet.
These are some of the issues that
will form the basis of a conference session panel discussion to be
chaired by Bradley Shaw, South African managing editor of Africa Telecoms magazine, on Tuesday, 26 February 2013, at the Mobile World Congress 2013 in Barcelona.
In
addition to the conference session promising to spark hot debate, it is
hoped that some resolution can also be achieved to the common issues
generated by the exponential growth in this sector across the continent.
This
will be Shaw's fourth visit to the gathering of mobile-focused
organisations and individuals which last year hosted over 67 000
attendees. He said that the importance of the sub-Saharan region had
grown substantially each year, attracting increasing numbers of
delegates seeking fresh opportunities and key learnings.
"Africa
is an exciting space for the mobile industry as a whole," said Shaw.
"Through mere necessity beset by the unique challenges presented across
the continent, it continually evolves and shifts, often producing
pioneering innovation picked up by the rest of the world."
Joining Shaw on centre stage will be:
Sifiso Dabengwa, group president and CEO, MTN Group
Manoj Kohli, CEO (International) and joint MD, Bharti Airtel
Omobola Johnson, minister of Communication Technology, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Nigeria
Lars Linden, head of Ericsson, Region Sub-Saharan Africa, Ericsson
Here is a great article from Katherine Stott, of JobFluent.com, which we like a lot. It has a lot of commonsense advice and good information about the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 2013. Definitely worth a read.
If you are looking for accommodation and are having no luck then see the search box above, or if you need executive transport during the event, see the last paragraph.
There is plenty to be said about the Mobile World Congress 2013
and there are a host of sites that will give you all the standard
details, such as dates, times, what and who to expect etc. Briefly, for
those of you who don’t know, it’s a tech event that happens annually in Barcelona.
It pretty much takes over the city and caters to all within the mobile
market – from the big companies such as Samsung, to the small startups
that we’ve yet to hear of.
A number of big guns from the mobile industry will be sharing their knowledge with event goers, so it’s something that can’t be missed. Find out more about the who’s who on the schedule right here.
A Mobile Event Must Have A Mobile App
It wouldn’t be fitting if the event didn’t have its own app, so
thankfully it’s got a great one that works on iPhone, Android,
Blackberry and other platforms. All you need to do is register and you
can get access to a range of interesting tools,
including a scheduling assistant that will help you keep track of all
your chosen speakers and exhibitors. Nifty, right? A definite
“must-have” for all attendees. Register here.
Use this Opportunity to Learn
Delegates can take full advantage of the brains they’ll be in contact with at the event by taking one of the training courses on offer.
The only catch is that you have to register and pay for both the event
and the training program, so it’s a bit pricey for those attending on a
budget. It might be worth your while if you want to attend any of these:
If you haven’t been before, then this won’t make any different to you, but the Mobile World Congress is being held in a new venue this year – the Fira Gran Via. That would be here:
Av. Joan Carles I, 64
08908 L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona
(view map)
The new venue is double the size of the one used in previous years, it’s centrally located and it makes use of 18,000 solar panels
– a plus for all you green beings, of which we hope there are many!
It’s also close to bus routes and is more accommodating for those with
disabilities. Check out this cool infographic that highlights a comparison between the two venues.
Insider tip: Before you go, have a look at this awesome virtual fly-through that allows you to familiarize yourself with the venue before you get there. You don’t want to waste a moment getting lost!
Where To Stay?
The event has partnered with Barcelona Business Pass that is handling accommodation deals at a reduced rate. You can have a look at the rooms on offer here
– it’s pretty comprehensive and gives you a detailed breakdown of
prices and rooms available. Book today to avoid disappointment!
Insider tip: avoid dealing with any other booking agents who claim to be offering special rates for the event. A number of delegates have already been duped by fraudulent activity
where they’ve paid deposits only to find out they have not secured a
room. Rather deal with the above-mentioned company directly.
Getting To and From the Event
Like we said, the whole city is going to be buzzing with event
madness during the MWC, so you won’t be short of transportation
opportunities. There are major bus routes around the venue and taxis and hotel shuttles will be doing their rounds regularly throughout each day. Here’s a guide to the drop off points and bus routes.
Insider tip: get approximate travel costs from your
hotel concierge or people in the know so that you can budget enough for
your travel every day.
Look what we have found! It appears that Vodafone are hinting that the new Blackberry Z10 will be launched on the 30th January, according to insider reports. Gareth Beavis, of Techradar.com explains what is happening in more detail. Read on.
The Z10 inches ever closer...It's good news for BB fans: the new Z10 will appear on (virtual) shelves the second it's announced to the world along with BB10.
Well,
that's the story according to Vodafone's internal materials, which are
telling stores that they can start allowing customers to part with their
hard-earned cash in order to be the first to own the new wave of
BlackBerry handsets at 5PM GMT.
The source comes from an anonymous tip to The Verge,
which has been sent the guidance on selling the new device – the font
and style seem very in keeping with Vodafone, but it's important to
remember these things can be easily faked.
If it is true, though,
the phone won't actually be in store until the following day, but given
many of the stores will be closing around the time it's announced,
that's hardly surprising.
HOW much?
Here's the issue: the
BlackBerry Z10, according to the anonymous information sent to the
Verge, will cost up to £47 per month ($73 / AUS$70), which puts it
squarely in line with the top-of-the-range handsets on the market.
In
reality, for the handset to succeed (based on the rumoured specs) it
really needs to be towards the top of the mid-range pricing to be seen
as a real competitor to the likes of the Galaxy S3 or the iPhone 5.
There
will be no PAYG version of this device, according to the source,
highlighting how the users who love the cheaper BlackBerry phones won't
be catered for at this juncture, something that may alienate a large
part of the core user group.
